Long-tailed Tit | Mesmerising Moments

Today, I went for a walk. I try to get outside as often as possible; for the air you know. It clears the head and burns the fat—eventually.

I walk along the pavement and up to the shops and down the road and into the park. Today, I ventured into the local graveyard and discovered that a graveyard is more alive than most places in our towns.

Being a birder, it was the birds that caught my eye. Magpies on the field beyond the cemetery wall; blackbirds foraging through the dead leaves even as more fell from the trees. Then I heard the si-si-si of a group of Long-Tailed Tits and I stood still for the first time on my walk.

I didn’t burn much fat. I didn’t breathe very deeply. I simply waited.

And nature came to me.

Today’s Mesmerising Moment is by contributor mruku. If there is anyone lazier in the world, we’ve yet to find them.

mruku has a tendency towards the more energy efficient methods of watching birds on his blog – The Lazy Birder. You can also follow him on Twitter – mruku.

You can find out more about Long-tailed Tits (Aegithalis caudatus) on the RSPB website.
