Bird Seed on a Bird Table | Mesmerising Moments

by Noah (9), England

Mum suggested we feed the birds so I went to find my catapult to fire seeds to them, but I couldn’t find it so I had to use other resources.

I found some old Beano stuff like catapults and a very useful thing shaped like a gun with a spring and foam missile that fires out and goes very far. I filled the hole in the centre of the missile with birdseed and then tried firing it. It worked perfectly but I wanted to do some modifications.

I created a paper grenade which I threw and the seeds leaked out if it which was very useful for feeding birds.

I came up with another idea.

A paper plane with sellotape at the top to stop seeds coming out. The only place the seeds fell out was the back of the plane. It flew across the garden and dropped seeds in a row.

I made a wooden shelf to hold bread so birds could eat higher up rather than going low to the ground. I like building things with wood.

I saw a house sparrow coming down to eat but I scared it off when I ran outside.

We’d like to thank Noah for sharing his Mesmerising Moments in nature. Getting outside and getting creative are amazing ways to discover Mesmerising Moments and we love Noah’s imaginative ideas for feeding birds.

Noah’s Mesmerising Moment is the second contribution to kidsMM.

If you’d like to contribute your Mesmerising Moments, get in touch – we’d love to share them.

Playing in nature is food for the soul.

Excellent creative ideas Noah. Great to see that you know a House Sparrow when you spot one. Looking forward to your next MM.
