Tawny Owl | Mesmerising Moments

The green glow of the clock lets me know it’s way too late, or too early.

I try to toss but am foiled at every turn by cats wrapped round my prostate limbs, legs pinned by their sprawl.

The humdrum hum of modern life has abated, sated by TV dinners and a story before bed.

Silent night.

No trains, no planes, no automobiles.

Shadows have long since stopped dancing, resting their heads through the graveyard shift. I cannot drift asleep. Then I hear it.

Above the silent din, a twit-to-wooing is caught on the breeze carried through the window to my ears.

Find out more about tawny owls on the RSPB website.

Lying awake in the middle of the night listening to two owls calling to each other. Well worth the loss of sleep.

It was Gilly!
Not often I get to hear them where I live. A delightful way to relax back to sleep.
