jack frost’s tongue

Snowy Canal | Mesmerising Moments

A white mystery – where have the people gone? There’s just me and frost laden trees sucked into an icy spell. But this is no Narnia and relentless time will bring Christmas soon enough.

Not a breath, not a breeze, not a single sound, no rustling leaf litter, no pitter-patter of tiny feet scurrying for a tasty treat. The world is suspended from the tip of Jack Frost’s tongue…waiting…waiting…

Gah! I forgot the bird food. Frigid air brushes hair, moving once more as I leap back into time. I head home to fetch food, smiling and white and light.

This photograph was taken during this Mesmerising Moment on a mobile phone camera in Sankey Valley Park.

During the two hours or so I walked through the park I tweeted about the experience. Now I know many people don’t have two hours spare each day for a walk in the park (which is sorry state of affairs) but even 15 minutes spent outdoors in natural surroundings can boost self-esteem, sense of well-being, your immune system and, frankly, it’ll put a spring in your step.

I don’t often get two hours to tramp aimlessly round the park but thought the weather, which is fickle in the UK, deserved some attention. It certainly got mine.
