Cornflower | Mesmerising Moments

I warmed your seeds on the palm of my hand,
Tufts of new life; paintbrushes for fairies.
Smiling, I planted your tufts in the seed trays,
Smiling, I scattered your tufts round the garden,
I whispered ‘I love you, grow well my dear friends’
As I watered your seeds, barefoot at dusk.

Spring tumbled into hot summer sun days,
You twisted and turned, outgrowing the seed trays,
Claiming your place in the wildness of garden.
Stems languidly sprawling, reaching and flopping,
Your buds, tweed plus-fours dipped in indigo paint.

You burst into throat chakra cobalt paint splashes,
Bowed low to the pond with a quivering nod.
Each flower a cluster of vivid blue fringes,
Dark stamens framed by bright purple stars.
My heart fills with love and joy keeps me smiling,
Cornflowers blue, I am just mesmerised.

Today’s Mesmerising Moment is by guest contributor Jackie Stewart of Flower Spirit.

Jackie is passionate about nature and, more specifically, working with essences. Along with healing and guided meditation work, Jackie offers flower-essence making workshops and she’s “probably happiest when barefoot on the earth tending the plants in my garden, doing yoga or meditation.”

It is. I love it too. Thanks very much to Jackie for contributing such a Mesmerising Moment. I know there’s nowhere she’d rather be than surrounded by nature.
