flying comes later

Clifftop Sunset | Mesmerising Moments

End of day breeze lulls steadily south-westerly; caressing calm water, licking my face and ruffling hair. A shivering finger-breadth slips down my back.

Spine-tingling, I’m wide awake.

The ebb of the tide pulses quietly up the cliff, through rock and soil and grass, to tickle my soul.

I step closer to the edge. Sun dips below cloud.

Caught for a moment in the spotlight, the air freshens, as though woken by the dying rays. I could follow the fence into forever.

Not yet, says the breeze flowing from the sea, flying comes later.
